If you are looking for horse riding Agadir beach options from your cruise ship, ours is the Tamri beach ride: 75 € per person, about 4 hours, with pickup at the cruise terminal at 15:00, a maximum of three riders, an English-speaking guide, a lesson for beginners and photos included. Because of its afternoon start, it only fits long port calls, such as the 08:00-22:00 days of AIDAblu and Mein Schiff 7. On shorter calls, choose a camel ride or the quad and camel combination instead.
Here is what the afternoon involves, exactly which ships it fits, and what to wear.

How the afternoon unfolds
The Tamri beach ride heads north from Agadir along the coast, which is a big part of its appeal.
- 15:00 pickup at the cruise terminal gate. The driver waits at the port exit with a sign with your name; the exact meeting point comes by WhatsApp the day before.
- Coastal drive to Aghroud, about 35 minutes.
- Photo stop at the Colors Village of Aghroud, about 15 minutes.
- On to Tamri, about 20 minutes more.
- Riding lesson and guided ride near the beach, about 2 hours. Beginners start with the basics; experienced riders can tell the guide what they are comfortable with.
- Drive back to Agadir and the cruise terminal, about 1 hour 10.
Add up the stages and you get a little over 4 hours. Our call pages plan 4 hours 30 from pickup to drop-off, which is where the 19:30 return comes from. Times on the road are approximate and depend on traffic, which on the coast road can be slow in the late afternoon.
What kind of ride to expect
Be realistic about what a single afternoon can be. This is a riding lesson followed by a guided ride near the beach, not a free gallop along the sand. What you do on the horse depends on your level and on what the guide judges safe on the day. Complete beginners spend more time on the basics and ride at a calm pace. Confident riders who say so at booking can expect the guide to adapt. Either way, the scenery of the coast north of Agadir and the photos at the end are a big part of the afternoon.
Which ships the horse ride fits
Every ride must start after your earliest pickup (arrival plus 30 minutes) and get you back to the terminal at least 60 minutes before all-aboard. Where the line has not published an all-aboard time, we assume 30 minutes before departure. For the horse ride that means you need a back-by time of 19:30 or later.
Worked example: an 08:00-22:00 call
If your ship docks at 08:00 and leaves at 22:00, all-aboard defaults to 21:30 and you need to be back by 20:30. The 15:00 horse ride returns around 19:30, leaving an hour more than our minimum margin. This is the pattern for Mein Schiff 7, AIDAblu, AIDAmar, Mein Schiff 3 and Mein Schiff Relax. Mein Schiff Flow's 07:00-22:00 call works the same way.
With a whole morning free, you could even add the 2-hour camel nature ride at 10:00, back around 12:30, and still have time for lunch before your 15:00 pickup.
AIDAprima, 07:00-21:00: fits exactly
On AIDAprima's call, default all-aboard is 20:30, so you need to be back by 19:30. The horse ride returns at 19:30: it fits, but with no extra slack beyond our 60-minute margin. Check the all-aboard time in the daily programme the evening before. If AIDA announces anything earlier than 20:30, the horse ride no longer fits.
Calls where it does not fit
| Call pattern | Back by | Horse ride |
|---|---|---|
| 08:00-22:00 (AIDAblu, AIDAmar, Mein Schiff 3/7/Relax) | 20:30 | Fits |
| 07:00-22:00 (Mein Schiff Flow) | 20:30 | Fits |
| 07:00-21:00 (AIDAprima) | 19:30 | Fits exactly |
| 08:00-20:00 (Phoenix Reisen Amera, Amadea) | 18:30 | Does not fit |
| 09:00-18:00 (Marella Discovery 2) | 16:30 | Does not fit |
| 08:00-17:00 (Costa Smeralda) | 15:30 | Does not fit |
| Shorter calls (Explora II, Oceania, Regent, Azamara) | 14:30 or earlier | Does not fit |
We know it is disappointing if you are on Marella or Costa and had your heart set on a horse. We would rather say so plainly than sell you a ride that puts you at the gate with minutes to spare. The ship does not wait for independently booked tours, and our margin is careful planning, not a guarantee.
Alternatives if the horse ride does not fit
- 2-hour camel nature ride, 18 €. Eucalyptus trails to the Souss River, a handler for every camel, mint tea. Start times at 10:00, 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00 mean it fits almost every call.
- Quad bike and camel ride, 19 €. An automatic quad after a safety briefing, then a camel ride across the sand and mint tea in a Berber tent. We plan it at 4 hours. It fits morning starts on most calls, for example 10:00 on Marella Discovery 2. Not for pregnant women or people with back problems.
- Timlalin dunes sandboarding and sunset camel ride, 25 €. For long calls only, at 15:00 or 16:00. It follows the same coast road past Taghazout and the Colors Village of Aghroud, adds a canyon and sandboarding, and ends with a sunset camel ride. On AIDAprima it fits at 15:00 exactly. Not for people with back problems or mobility impairments.
If your ship is staying late and you want an evening on a camel instead of a horse, our sunset ride guide compares the options.
What to wear for horse riding
- Long trousers. Comfortable long trousers are a must for riding; shorts are not suitable.
- Closed shoes. Trainers or boots with a small heel are ideal. No sandals.
- Layers. The ride runs into the late afternoon, and winter evenings on the coast are cooler than the middle of the day. A light jacket helps on the drive back.
- Sun protection. Sunglasses and sun cream; tie back long hair.
- A light scarf against wind and sand.
- Leave valuables on board. You need your phone, your cruise card and the photo ID your ship asks for. Little else.
Our what to wear guide covers the rest of the day too.
Booking tips for the horse ride
- Book ahead. With a maximum of three riders per ride, places are limited.
- Tell us your level honestly when you book, including if you have never ridden.
- Mention any mobility needs or health conditions so the team can plan.
- Plan your morning around it. A late lunch on board or in town before the 15:00 pickup works well. Our Mein Schiff guide and AIDA guide include full long-call day plans.
- Free cancellation up to 48 hours before the start time. Within 48 hours, it is not refundable. If the ship changes its schedule, tell us on WhatsApp: we move the ride to a time that still fits, or refund in full if no time works.
For details of the port and the gate, see our Agadir port guide. If you are weighing up our ride against an excursion sold on board, read the ship excursion vs independent tour comparison first.
Book your ride on Tamri beach
Find your ship and date in the cruise calendar. If the horse ride appears on your call page, it fits your hours. Book the Tamri beach horse ride in good time, as each ride takes three riders at most.
