AIDA Agadir Guide: Making the Most of a Long Port Day

An AIDA Agadir call usually means a long day: AIDAblu and AIDAmar typically call from 08:00 to 22:00, and AIDAprima from 07:00 to 21:00. That is enough time for a sunset ride and a Berber dinner on AIDAblu and AIDAmar, while AIDAprima's earlier day suits morning starts and a 15:00 ride that finishes right on our margin. Here is how to use each pattern, how the port works, and when booking independently makes sense.

AIDA Agadir hours by ship

In our current winter calendar three AIDA Cruises ships call at Agadir:

AIDA does not publish all-aboard times in our data, so our site assumes all-aboard is 30 minutes before departure. On AIDAblu and AIDAmar that gives an all-aboard of 21:30; on AIDAprima, 20:30. Your daily programme, delivered on board the evening before, has the real time. If it is earlier, fewer rides fit, so compare it with the call page for your date on our cruise calendar.

How the long AIDA day works out

Our timing rules are the same for every ship. The earliest pickup is arrival plus 30 minutes, which allows for disembarking and walking to the cruise terminal gate. You are back at the terminal at least 60 minutes before all-aboard. A ride counts as fitting only if both are true.

AIDAblu / AIDAmar (08:00-22:00)AIDAprima (07:00-21:00)
Assumed all-aboard21:3020:30
Earliest pickup08:3007:30
Back at terminal by20:3019:30
Usable time12 hours12 hours

Both patterns give twelve usable hours. The difference is where they sit in the day. AIDAblu and AIDAmar push later into the evening, which opens up the dinner tours. AIDAprima starts an hour earlier and ends an hour earlier, which opens up 08:00 departures but closes the Berber dinner.

What fits on AIDAblu and AIDAmar (08:00-22:00)

One that does not fit: the 17:05 start of the sunset camel ride with BBQ dinner. It would bring you back at 20:35, five minutes past our margin, so the site does not offer it. The same tour at 10:05, 12:05 or 14:05 does fit, as a daytime ride with the meal rather than a sunset. We do not bend the margin by five minutes, because late-afternoon traffic on the coast road is the most likely thing to eat it. More on the evening options in our sunset camel ride and BBQ guide.

What fits on AIDAprima (07:00-21:00)

  • Timlalin dunes at 08:00 (back 12:30) or at 15:00 (back 19:30, exactly on the margin).
  • Tamri beach horse ride at 15:00, back at 19:30, again exactly on the margin.
  • The 2-hour camel ride at any of its four starts.
  • The quad bike and camel ride at 08:00, 09:00, 10:00 or 14:00.

What does not fit: the Berber dinner at 16:00 (you would be back at 20:30, an hour past the 19:30 margin) and the 17:05 BBQ sunset start. If a dinner matters to you, the daytime BBQ ride at 10:05, 12:05 or 14:05 is the honest alternative.

"Exactly on the margin" means you still have the full 60 minutes before all-aboard. It does not mean spare time on top. If your daily programme shows an earlier all-aboard than 20:30, those 15:00 starts drop out.

Example AIDA day plans

AIDAblu or AIDAmar, slow morning and an evening out. Walk or take the shuttle into town after breakfast, see the promenade or the Kasbah hill, and be back on board for lunch. At 16:00 you are picked up at the gate for the Berber dinner tour. The driver drops you back at 20:30 and you have an hour before the assumed all-aboard of 21:30.

AIDAblu or AIDAmar, two rides in one day. Take the 10:00 camel ride to the Souss River and you are back at the terminal by 12:30. Rest on board, then go out again at 15:00 for the Timlalin dunes, back at 19:30. It is a full day; it suits people who want the forest-and-river ride and the dunes, and do not mind two transfers.

AIDAprima, early start. Be at the gate for the 08:00 Timlalin departure. Sandboarding and a camel ride in the cooler morning light, back by 12:30, and the afternoon is yours. If you would rather ride horses, the 15:00 Tamri ride works, but only if the real all-aboard time is 20:30 or later.

Where does AIDA dock in Agadir?

AIDA ships berth inside the commercial port at the northern end of the bay, like every cruise ship. It is a working harbour, so you cannot wander around it. The port authority assigns the berth at short notice, which is why nobody can promise you a specific quay in advance. It does not matter much: every passenger leaves through the same cruise terminal gate, and that is where our driver waits with a sign showing your name. We send the exact meeting point by WhatsApp the day before.

Allow about 30 minutes from docking to the gate, more if the whole ship wants off at once. Our Agadir port guide covers the gate, taxis and the walk in more detail.

The AIDA shuttle and getting into town

Many lines run a shuttle bus from the gate to the city centre on Agadir calls. Whether AIDA offers one on your date, and at what price, is set by the ship: check the daily programme. If you book with us, you do not need it for the ride, because pickup and drop-off at the terminal are included. For town on your own, orange petit taxis are the cheapest option; agree the fare or ask for the meter before you get in.

AIDA cruises Agadir excursions or booking independently?

AIDA's own excursions are the simplest option if you want the ship to carry the risk. The ship runs its own tours around its own schedule. When you book independently, the ship does not wait for you. That is the honest trade-off, and our comparison of ship excursions and independent tours goes through it point by point.

What you get by booking with us is a ride chosen to fit your exact call, a 60-minute buffer before all-aboard built into every start time, small groups, and prices per person paid online in euros. The website and booking are available in German; on the ride itself our team speaks English and French. If AIDA changes the schedule, tell us on WhatsApp: we move your ride to a time that still fits, or refund you in full if none does. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the start.

Practical notes for AIDA guests

  • Bring your AIDA cruise card and the photo ID your ship asks for; you need them to get back into the port.
  • You do not need dirhams for the ride, which is paid online. A little cash helps for tips, drinks and souvenirs.
  • Mobile roaming: Morocco is outside the EU, so EU roaming rules do not apply. Check your tariff before using data.
  • Wear closed shoes and take a light scarf against wind and sand. Our what to wear guide has the full list.
  • Clock: Agadir is usually one hour ahead of the Canary Islands in winter. Go by the time AIDA announces on board. See our Canary Islands and Morocco guide.

Plan your AIDA day

Find your ship and date in the cruise calendar to see only the rides that fit. On AIDAblu or AIDAmar, the Berber dinner with Gnaoua music is the evening the long call makes possible. On any AIDA call, the 2-hour camel ride at 18 € is the easy, reliable choice.
