Agadir cruise port guide

Everything we tell our cruise guests before their day in Agadir: where the ship docks, how to get around, how much time you really have and what to bring.

Where the ships dock

Cruise ships berth inside the commercial port of Agadir, at the northern end of the bay. The port is a working harbour, so you cannot walk around it freely: passengers leave through the cruise gate, where taxis, tour drivers and, on many calls, the ship's shuttle bus wait.

From the gate, the beach promenade and the city centre are a few kilometres to the south, the Kasbah hill is just above the port and the Souss River estuary, where our camel rides start, is on the southern edge of the city.

Getting from the ship to your ride

With us, you do not have to organise anything: your driver waits at the cruise gate with a sign in your name and drives you to the ride, then back to the gate afterwards.

On your own, the orange petit taxis are the cheapest option for the city; agree the price or ask for the meter before you get in. Bigger beige grand taxis take up to six people for longer trips.

How much time you really have

Count about 30 minutes from docking to the gate, especially on large ships where everyone wants to leave at once. Plan to be back at the gate at least one hour before all-aboard: traffic on the coast road can be slow in the late afternoon.

Morning rides are cooler and quieter. If your ship stays into the evening, a sunset camel ride is often possible; the call pages show which rides fit your exact hours.

Money, language and safety

The local currency is the Moroccan dirham. Our rides are paid online in euros when you book, so you only need a little cash for tips, drinks or souvenirs. Card payment is not accepted everywhere in town.

French and Arabic are spoken everywhere; English and Spanish are common in tourist places. Agadir is a relaxed resort city; the usual precautions with phones and bags in crowded places are enough.

What to bring ashore

  • Your cruise card and a photo ID (needed to get back into the port)
  • Comfortable clothes and closed shoes for riding
  • Sun cream, sunglasses and a hat; a light scarf against wind and sand
  • A charged phone with our WhatsApp number saved
  • Some small change in dirhams or euros for tips

Port questions

Not really: you have to leave through the cruise gate first, and the beach starts a few kilometres south of it. A taxi or a shuttle is the easy way.
