Short on time but keen to see the desert? This two-day round trip from Agadir takes you over the Anti-Atlas to the edge of the Sahara at Zagora and back, with a camel ride and a night in a traditional desert camp in between. Day 1: an early pickup in Agadir starts a long but scenic drive across the fertile Souss Valley to Taroudant, nicknamed Little Marrakech, for a short stop by its ochre ramparts. The road climbs through the saffron country of Taliouine and the carpet-weaving town of Taznakht, then continues to Agdz and its palm groves, with a photo stop above the Draa Valley. In Zagora, ride a camel into the desert at sunset, then settle into camp for a traditional Moroccan dinner and a night under the stars. Day 2: after breakfast at the camp, head north to Ouarzazate, the gateway to the Sahara, and on to UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou before the drive back to Agadir. Good to know: day 1 is a long drive with breaks along the way. A luxury camp upgrade, a sunset quad ride or a buggy ride can be added on request.
