Agadir Camel Ride Price for Cruise Guests: What 18 € Gets You

The Agadir camel ride price for cruise passengers starts at 18 € per person for our 2-hour nature ride, with pickup and drop-off at the cruise terminal and mint tea included. The Flamingo River ride is also 18 €, a camel ride with a Moroccan BBQ meal is 39 €, and the quad bike and camel combination is 19 €. You pay online in euros, so you need no dirhams for the ride itself.

Below you will find exactly what each price covers, what happens minute by minute, and which start times fit your ship.

Agadir camel ride price at a glance

RidePrice per personTime we plan forPickup times at the terminal
2-hour camel nature ride18 €2 hours10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00
Flamingo River camel ride with mint tea18 €3 hours (listed as 2-3 h)10:00
Camel ride with BBQ dinner39 €3 hours10:05, 12:05, 14:05, 17:05
Quad bike and camel ride with tea19 €4 hours (listed as 3-4 h)08:00, 09:00, 10:00, 14:00, 16:00

To work out when you are back at the ship, add the planned time plus about 30 minutes for the drive to the terminal. Where a ride is listed as a range, we always plan with the longer figure, so your call page never promises a return that is too tight.

Prices are per person, for adults and children alike; we have no separate child rates. Groups are small, and private options are available on request.

What the price includes

For every ride above, the price covers:

  • Pickup and drop-off at the Agadir cruise terminal. The driver waits at the port exit with a sign with your name. We send the exact meeting point by WhatsApp the day before.
  • A handler for each camel. Camels walk slowly, and a handler leads each one, so you do not need any riding experience.
  • Mint tea, and on some rides pastries, sweets or a full meal (details below).
  • Booking in about two minutes, paid by PayPal or card, with confirmation by email and WhatsApp.

What it does not include: tips, extra drinks and souvenirs. Bring a little cash in dirhams for those.

The 2-hour nature ride, step by step

This is the ride most cruise guests choose, because it fits almost every schedule and suits children and first-time riders.

  1. Pickup at the gate. You meet the driver at your start time and drive to the ranch, near the Royal Palace area on the southern side of Agadir.
  2. Meeting your camel. The handler helps you on while the camel is kneeling.
  3. Riding, about 1 hour 30. You follow eucalyptus trails towards the Souss River, at walking pace, with the handler beside you the whole way.
  4. Photo stops along the trail and by the river.
  5. Mint tea before you head back.
  6. Drive back to the terminal, about 30 minutes.

The ride runs with small groups and the team speaks English, French and Arabic.

The Flamingo River ride

The Flamingo River ride takes a different route: across coastal dunes and through eucalyptus forest to Oued Souss, known as the "Flamingo River". You pass the village of Aghroud Bensergao on the way. There is a short riding briefing before you set off, and at the camp you get mint tea with Moroccan pastries. It runs once a day, at 10:00, and the team speaks English and French.

About the flamingos: they are seasonal, usually present between November and April, and even then they are never guaranteed. Treat any sighting as a bonus rather than the reason to book.

The camel ride with a BBQ meal

The BBQ ride costs 39 € and combines a camel ride with a proper meal. You drive about 25 minutes to a ranch near the Souss River, ride for about an hour through eucalyptus forest towards the river, then sit down to a Moroccan BBQ dinner or a traditional Moroccan menu with mint tea. Tell us about any dietary needs when you book.

The late-afternoon 17:05 start is the sunset version. The earlier starts at 10:05, 12:05 and 14:05 are daytime rides with the same meal, but no sunset. For cruise guests this matters: as explained below, the sunset start only suits very long calls, and our sunset ride guide covers it in detail.

Quad bike and camel combination

For 19 €, the quad and camel ride adds some speed. You get a safety briefing and practice on an automatic quad, with helmet and goggles provided, then a camel ride across the sand and mint tea with sweets in a Berber tent. Groups can be up to 20 people. It is not suitable for pregnant women or anyone with back problems. Wear closed shoes and clothes that can get dusty.

Which start times fit your ship

Every ride must start after your earliest pickup (arrival plus 30 minutes) and return you to the terminal at least 60 minutes before all-aboard. Here is how that works out for three ships in our current calendar, using the default all-aboard of 30 minutes before departure.

Worked example: Marella Discovery 2, 09:00-18:00

If your ship docks at 09:00 and leaves at 18:00, all-aboard is 17:30, your earliest pickup is 09:30 and you need to be back by 16:30. On Marella Discovery 2 that means:

  • 2-hour camel ride at 10:00, 12:00 or 14:00 (the 14:00 ride returns around 16:30, exactly on the cut-off).
  • Flamingo River ride at 10:00, back around 13:30.
  • Daytime BBQ ride at 10:05 or 12:05.
  • Quad and camel at 10:00, back around 14:30.

Costa Smeralda, usually 08:00-17:00

Costa Smeralda gives you a back-by time of 15:30. The 2-hour ride fits at 10:00 or 12:00, the Flamingo River ride at 10:00, the BBQ ride only at 10:05 as a daytime meal, and the quad combination at 09:00 or 10:00. Costa Smeralda is a large ship, so get to the gate early.

AIDAblu, 08:00-22:00

On AIDAblu's long call you can be back as late as 20:30. All four start times of the 2-hour ride fit, as does the Flamingo River ride, the daytime BBQ ride at 10:05, 12:05 or 14:05, and the quad combination at 09:00, 10:00, 14:00 or 16:00. The one exception is the 17:05 sunset BBQ start: it would bring you back at 20:35, five minutes past our margin, so we do not offer it for this call.

Always check the all-aboard time in your daily programme the evening before. If it is earlier than the default, fewer rides fit. Your call page in the cruise calendar does the maths for you.

Dromedary basics

The camels you ride in Morocco are dromedaries, with one hump. A few things help first-timers:

  • Getting on and off. The camel kneels for you to climb on. When it stands, it rises back legs first, so you tip forward and then back. Lean back slightly and hold on.
  • The pace. Camels walk slowly with a gentle rocking motion. Most people relax within a few minutes.
  • Mobility. If you have mobility needs, tell us when you book so the team can help.
  • What to wear. Closed shoes, comfortable trousers and a light scarf against wind and sand. Add a hat, sunglasses and sun cream. Our what to wear guide has a full list.

Is booking independently right for you?

Booking a ride directly gives you more choice of start times and a small group. The trade-off is that the ship does not wait for independently booked tours. We plan a 60-minute margin before all-aboard and move or refund your ride if the ship's schedule changes, but that is planning, not a guarantee. Our page on ship excursions vs independent tours sets out both sides, and the Agadir port guide explains what happens at the gate.

Book your camel ride

Find your ship and date in the cruise calendar to see which rides fit your hours. For most calls, the 2-hour camel nature ride at 18 € per person is the simplest choice, with free cancellation up to 48 hours before the start.
